The Hot Hatch

The 2017 Volkswagen Golf family is one of the most exciting and versatile families of cars in the market. From the speed and power of the Golf R, to the versatility of the Golf Sportwagon, there is a model built for everyone. But, how much do you know about what is typically called the “hot hatch?” What they are referring to is the Volkswagen GTI. The GTI stands for Grand Touring Injection.

Grand Touring comes from the Italian term, “gran tourismo.” This usually means that the car is in the luxury class and capable of higher speeds. The I on the end stands for injection. But, we can discuss that further in the next post. Right now, I would like to focus on how safe the GTI is. The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety gave the Volkswagen Golf family a Pick+ rating. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave it a 5 star rating. These are two of the most coveted safety awards in the automotive industry. In fact, there are seven total stability enhancing systems to keep you safe in the event of an accident. This includes the Intelligent Crash Response System and the Post Collision Braking System.

With these safety features at your fingertips, the Volkswagen GTI puts you and your passengers in the safest car in it’s class. It makes you feel incredible at high speeds. It is refreshing to know, that VW has gone through so much research to not only make a performance car, but an extremely safe one. Come to Midlands Volkswagen today and take a test drive in the GTI.
