GTI, Grand Touring Injection Part 2
Do You Want to Feel Power?
The 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI is a powerful ride, to say the least. With it’s 2.0L Turbo TSI engine, this little hatchback can pull a 5.7 second time in the quarter mile. That says a whole lot about german engineering. For those of you that don’t know how this is possible, let’s talk about what turbo charging an engine means.
“A turbocharger, or colloquially turbo, is a turbine-driven forced induction device that increases an internal combustion engine’s efficiency and power output by forcing extra air into the combustion chamber.[1][2] This improvement over a naturally aspirated engine’s power output is due to the fact that the compressor can force more air—and proportionately more fuel—into the combustion chamber than atmospheric pressure (and for that matter, ram air intakes) alone.” – Wikipedia
Whoa!! That was a handful. I hope that made sense because it sure made sense to me when I first read it. I will be honest with you, before I worked here, I was not a car guy. But after driving a Volkswagen, I started wanting to understand why they were so much fun to ride. Now, I am in love with the power that the 2.0L engine in the 2017 Volkswagen GTI has to offer. Is this the type of power that you are looking for in an automobile? If so, come take a test drive at Midlands Volkswagen and see what all the talk is about.
