In The Event of a Collision…

Let’s face it, now one wants to hear, or even think about being in a collision situation. Everything that leads up to situations like that, are obviously things that went wrong. But, with Volkswagen, corrective measures are put in place to do everything they can to keep things from continuing to go wrong.

Airbags are without a doubt, one of the best advancements in cars to date. They have saved so many lives that it is impossible to count. But, the Volkswagen Jetta doesn’t stop with just safety belts and airbags. The Jetta has what is called the Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS,) which takes your safety to the next level. The ICRS turns of the fuel pump, to keep any type of fire from starting and unlocks the doors to prevent the driver from being trapped in the car. The ICRS also goes one step further. It automatically turns on the hazard lights for you, in the event that you cannot. This is absolutely huge, because it helps others see you and prevents further accidents from happening. To me, who is the parent of two children, this is brilliant.

I am comforted by this, knowing that one of the most important designs in the Volkswagen line of cars isn’t style or looks, it is safety.
